Individuals will pick benthic foraminifera onto slides from wet sediment residues, apply basic foraminiferal taxonomy and sediment preparation. The work is towards a project related to paleo hurricane activity or hydroclimate variability using sediment from blue holes in The Bahamas.Roles and Responsibilities50% - Creating data spreadsheets and working on data sets.40% - Working on assigned project for Dr. van Hengstum.10% - Supporting the sedimentology and micropaleontology laboratory as needed.General Qualifications+ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel.+ Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.+ Exceptional organizational skills.+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.+ Willingness to dress in business casual attire if supporting meetings or audits directly.+ Must be currently enrolled student.+ Must be in good academic standing as reflected by a GPA of 2.0 or higher.Learning Outcomes+ Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.+ Increase communication skills among a diverse team of staff, stakeholders, students, donors, and visitors.+ Ability to think independently and solve problems as they arise.+ Increase knowledge and use of digital technology to include software programs and different types of technology and computers.
