MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field and five years related experience or a double Master's with a degree in computer science and one year's related experience.

JOB DUTIES:

The UTMB Health Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Department is looking for a highly talented Lead Data Architect who can help the organization take our Enterprise Data Warehousing and Analytics strategy to the next level. The lead data architect will be part of a high functioning team that supports a modern enterprise-wide data infrastructure and business intelligence (BI) framework that will enable business areas all across our multi-faceted organization utilize data to make evidence based decisions.

The lead data architect will work closely with the customers across the organization to understand their business needs, their business workflows and will lead the development of data models and data hubs that will enable these business areas to utilize analytics in their day-to-day operations and decision making. They will have a strong ability to embed themselves within a business area, build relationships with them and truly understand their data needs. They will then translate this into properly designed data models that will be available to analysts in the business areas to build their analytical applications. The lead data architect will work closely with analysts and BI developers to ensure the data models align with the front-end/data visualization applications and are easily consumable by them.

The lead data architect will be a liaison between the business areas and the data architecture team. Partners with leadership to ensure the right tools and strategies are utilized. Promotes self-service analytics to users throughout the organization. Participates in the Data and Analytics Council to assess data policies and procedures and document assets.

The lead data architect will also focus on data quality efforts to ensure the integrity of the data in the Enterprise Data Warehouse.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years of experience with business intelligence systems and database environments
  • Extensive experience with a data architecture framework
  • Extensive experience with developing data models within an Enterprise Data Warehouse (experience in healthcare data preferred)
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data
  • Up do date on the latest trends in Data Architecture
  • Experience with interfacing with stakeholders and business areas to understand their business needs and business workflows
  • Experience in working with Clinical data in EMR's like Epic is preferred.
  • Extensive database experience using SQL Server and/or Oracle.
  • Strong data modeling skills utilizing any data modeling tools
  • Experience in data architecture using Azure tools like Azure Data Lake, Azure Managed Instance, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Analysis Services
  • Experience with implementing Data Quality processes and tools to ensure the integrity of data in the Data Warehouse
  • Experience with Data Profiling
  • Experience with Data Governance principles and participating in Data Governance Councils
  • Experience with business intelligence systems including but not limited to Power BI, QlikView, Qlik Sense, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, and OBIEE.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

SALARY RANGE:

$110,000 - $125,000. Actual salary commensurate with experience.
