  • Answer email inquiries to provide information concerning an office or organization.
  • Arrange travel and/or transportation for office personnel using an online travel management website.
  • Track office expenditures throughout the budget period using an automated financial management system.
  • Assist with formulating an annual operating budget for an office using an automated financial management system.
  • Compose correspondence for an organization, ensuring proper format, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Consolidating and analyzing data to develop a budget for an office/organization; AND 2.) Arranging transportation and/or travel for personnel in the organization; AND 3.) Procuring supplies, equipment, and/or materials for an office/organization; AND 4.) Composing correspondence and/or reports using word processing software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service of GS-06.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Administration and Management
  • Budget Administration
  • Database Administration

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Positions may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.

Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 months, if the candidate is not a permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years, and may be made permanent without further competition. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond 6 six years, but not more than 8 years.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
