Perform a variety of clerical and manual duties associated with
the operation of the institutional-wide postal service.
- Perform various clerical duties such as sorting, distributing,
collecting and metering postal materials in accordance with
established procedures and applicable Federal postal
- Operate postage meter machine to stamp outgoing letters; weigh
and stamp packages; sectionalize outgoing mail according to
destination. Maintain daily record of all metered mail by
department; record registered and insured mail. Unload incoming
supplies and material; verify quantity of received goods against
invoices; notify supervisor of discrepancies.
- Deliver mail to Medical Center patients and pickup outgoing
- Maintain clean and orderly conditions in assigned areas.
- Responds to customers (hospital staff and physicians) requests
in a professional, helpful and timely manner in person and on the
telephone and provides directions and other helpful information to
visitors and others while performing distribution duties.
- Follows departmental / hospital policies and procedures, rules
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Standard office equipment, push carts and hand held computer.
Operates UTMB vehicles.

Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office
environments. May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as
communicable diseases and/or harmful chemicals, may also be exposed
to atmospheric and weather conditions. Frequent walking.
