Technologist Limited Medical Radiology Technologist (LMRT) or
Radiology Technologist (RT) Department: Operations Reports To:
Regional Manager Job Summary The NCT, LMRT or RT follows prescribed
techniques for producing general and specific x-rays for diagnostic
purposes as well as function as a medical assistant to achieve the
goals of the facility as directed by the Physician/Medical
Provider. General Accountabilities NCT’s, LMRT’s and RTs are
responsible for efficiently assisting the Medical Providers by
performing a range of clinical tasks, including: Prepare patient,
machine, room, equipment and materials for x-ray Properly, position
patient by arranging immobilization and support devices. Perform
radiation protection techniques to limit exposure to patient and
medical staff. Properly adjust equipment controls, determine proper
voltage, and exposure time. In addition, this position is
responsible for efficiently assisting the Medical Providers by
performing a range of administrative and clinical tasks, including:
Completing check in processes including collecting patient balances
Prepare patient care rooms for examination Measure vital signs, and
record information on chart/EMR. Perform invasive and noninvasive
diagnostic tests including eye exams, electrocardiograph, pulse ox,
peak flow/spirometry, inhalation treatment equipment and blood
draws. Perform, collect and label CLIA-waived lab tests for send
out Perform both DOT and Non-DOT urine drug and alcohol tests
Remove sutures/staples and change sterile and non-sterile
dressings. Responsible for patient centered communication
including: Discussing patient balances Explaining the procedure and
treatments that will be performed Immediate service recovery for
patients that are not satisfied Other responsibilities of the
position include: Clean and sterilize both instruments and
equipment after use. Maintain adequate level of supplies and
instruments for use by the facility. Demonstrates the safe
operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for
reporting and correcting an unsafe situation. Demonstrates the
importance of continuing education to the performance of
responsibilities and growth in profession. Participate in Quality
Improvement and Mandatory education/training programs. Job
Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent Current
certification and/or state licensure in radiology technology.
Knowledge of specific and OSHA requirements regarding radiological
procedures. BCLS certification. Ability to work all shifts
including day, night, and weekend hours as needed. Basic computer
skills; including familiarity with electronic medical records.
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Must have a verified current license and maintain good standing on
the Texas Medical Board Verification website. Environmental and
physical requirements Candidate must be able to read, write and
speak English fluently, have cognitive skills for math, reading,
filing and sterile technique skills. Communication skills to deal
well with employees, patients, families and Physician/Medical
Providers. Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation.
Hearing for low, medium, and high pitch. Job requires physical
ability for long-term standing, occasional sitting, crouching,
kneeling, frequent walking, reaching with reaching above head and
below waist. Job risks include exposure to blood and body fluids
(high), contact with chemicals, lifting of 30 - 40 pounds, and
exposure to infectious disease.
