Cancer Center summary: The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer
Center is seeking a clinical faculty physician specializing in
benign or non-malignant hematology to diagnose, treat, and research
non-cancerous blood disorders. The role involves clinical care,
leading research programs in hematology, mentoring trainees, and
securing funding for cancer-related benign hematology studies.
Candidates must hold an MD, be licensed in Texas, board certified
or eligible in Hematology, and have at least five years of relevant
clinical experience. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer
Center Section of Benign Hematology is seeking a dedicated and
highly motivated Clinical Faculty Member with a commitment to a
career in benign or non-malignant hematology . The successful
candidate will join a team that specializes in diagnosing and
treating non-cancerous blood disorders in cancer patients, as well
as assessing and managing individuals with non-malignant blood
conditions outside the cancer context. QUALIFICATIONS: Physicians
with experience in clinical and/or basic science research,
especially in cancer-associated thrombosis, are strongly encouraged
to apply. Candidates must show evidence of scholarly activity,
scientific accomplishment, and skill in writing and communication.
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in
non-malignant hematology research and scholarly activity that will
enhance the academic environment of the institution. The selected
candidate will also be expected to become familiar with appropriate
funding mechanisms to support cancer-related benign hematology
research and to assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and
other trainees, as applicable. The candidate will have protected
time to lead and develop programs, perform research, and complete
scholarly activities in keeping with the goals of the Section.
Competitive compensation is offered commensurate with rank and
qualifications. Faculty rank and protected research time will be
provided consistent with experience and qualifications. EDUCATION
AND LICENSURE: Required: MD Licensed to practice in Texas Board
certified in Hematology (or obtained within departmental timeline)
EXPERIENCE: Required: At least 5 year’s experience post degree with
any combination of time as a Clinician Clinical Scientist or GME
trainee (except specialties with shorter residencies or
fellowships) Recommended: Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life
