You will lead the way to a new generation float pool which will be Ambulatory exclusive.In this role, you will be responsible for working within a float pool at the various UTMB clinics to assist with supplemental staffing. Proficient Clinician. Possesses knowledge and skill to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled in specialty area. Competently functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Practice is characterized by predominantly independent decision-making. Practice is problem focused and patient centered in the manner care is provided. Able to manage unexpected or emergency situations that are commonly seen in assigned specialty population. Can manage commonly seen contingency situations that arise on the clinical unit. Provides patient care through nursing practices based upon the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice, and Professional Performance. Values specialty unit, nursing, and institutional strategic initiatives and health system goalsOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: A minimum of two years of outpatient experience. And a National Specialty Certification OR Professional nursing organization membership preferred.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCUSTOMER SERVICE:Provides high level customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers.Provides direct, professional, and knowledgeable interactions with patients, physicians, referral sources, and the treatment team.Acts as patient advocate and liaisons with various departments to meet mutual goals.Maintains patient confidentiality regarding access to patient and other clinical information via email, computer, fax and mailAddresses concerns of patients, provides service recovery, and escalates issues as needed.Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing.Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies.Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills.CLINICAL FUNCTIONS:Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies, and procedures governing the provision of nursing care applicable to the area of assignment.Knowledge of medical terminology; principles and practices of health promotion, risk reduction, illness and disease prevention and management; medications and drugs, common dosages, their physical and physiological effects, and possible adverse reactions.Knowledge of medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.Ability to provide age-specific, quality, patient-centered care to all patients through the nursing process and standards of nursing practice with sensitivity and respect for the diversity of human experience.Provides direct nursing care to assigned patients.Participates in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given.Demonstrates ability to observe and record the signs, symptoms, and behaviors including the 3 physiological status of patients, presents proposed revision of interventions, and desired outcomes.Delivers the designated nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the state medical plan of care.Notifies appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status; recognizes patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.Follows physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care.Always maintains patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records.Safely and properly administers medications and treatments.Executes written physician's orders for assigned patients.Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Must possess and maintain a current license or valid permit to practice in Texas. Current BLS required.SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.
