Job Description:
The Blades group within the Turbine Engineering department plays
a pivotal role in providing technical support for wind turbine
blades, supporting both the ongoing service of existing products
and the development of new solutions within blade service. This
team is responsible for conducting detailed engineering analyses,
resolving field issues, and facilitating continuous improvement in
blade performance, reliability, and serviceability. Additionally,
the group also contributes to product upgrades, customer
interactions, and strategic initiatives that aim to enhance the
overall efficiency and durability of Vestas' wind turbine blades.
Technical Responsibilities: • Development project that would
include but not limited to develop and support equipment design,
material testing, and process studies. • Manage internal failure
analysis to support commercial decisions and contribute to
component forecasting for service contract planning. • Support
Vestas R&D by coordinating ongoing product development and
reliability enhancement projects. • Develop technical
specifications, research reports, and investigation documentation.
• Conduct focused activities requiring advanced knowledge in blade
technology, such as structural evaluations and repair strategies.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: • Act as a technical point of
contact for customer engineers, consultants, financiers, and
auditors by responding to technology due diligence requests. •
Present blade technology at industry conferences and serve as a
subject matter expert for the region. • Review and respond to
construction related RFIs (Requests for Information), especially
regarding blade installation or transport related damages. •
Provide direct communication and technical support to customers for
field issues, including damage assessments and repair
recommendations. Operations & Field Support: • Offer on-site and
remote support for blade damage evaluation, root cause analysis,
and corrective action planning. • Respond to technical inquiries
from field service teams and project managers and conduct FMEA
studies and time to failure modeling. • Support operational teams
with tooling, uptower repair solutions, inspection protocols, and
specialized maintenance approaches. Cross-functional & Project
Leadership: • Manage and oversee testing programs to assist R&D
with product improvement efforts. • Coordinate and support
Component Improvement Management (CIM) projects with
cross-functional international teams. • Maintain and develop
region-specific technical documentation to align with evolving
engineering practices and market needs. Qualifications: •
Bachelor's degree in Material or Mechanical Engineering (other
degrees considered with experience). • Master's degree in
mechanical / Polymer / Chemical Engineering is beneficial. •
Experience with glass or carbon fiber design and construction. • 2
- 5 years of experience in engineering with background in solving
problems. Competencies: • Ability to work in demanding situations
and handle multiple responsibilities in a deadline-oriented
environment, effective oral and written communication skills, and
effective organizational skills, ability to maintain
confidentiality. • Demonstrated flexibility working in an evolving
and changing organization. • Proficient computer skills,
specifically in MS Office products and AutoCAD/ProE. • You are a
highly motivated person who can work with little supervision and
have experience with glass/carbon structural repair, especially on
wind turbine blades. • Specific experience in the implementation,
operation, system standards and service of wind turbines,
experience in project management and systematic problem-solving
methodology (8D, DMAIC, etc.), and experience or comprehensive
knowledge in 2-D and 3-D mechanical modelling (FEA is beneficial).
• Solid commercial experience from exposure to/understanding of
